It’s been a while. With college I don’t really have time to blog like I want to. I did create a twitter though, and I plan to actually keep that updated. I have quite a few loot posts to post as well; not sure when I’ll get around to that. School is out for the summer but I plan on taking summer classes, however I’ll have a two week break before the first summer session starts — a one week break in the middle of summer, and another near the end. I’m only taking one class each summer session so it shouldn’t be too difficult, though. Maybe I should try to at least keep my loot posts updated :< Well, anyway, at least I’ll regularly update my twitter, so the blog might suffer from minor neglection, but I do plan to update it.
It’s been a few months
May 6, 2010I really need to get around to posting something =/
February 24, 2010Class has been kind of hectic lately. I’ve got a couple loot posts to share, and some information regarding my PS3 as well, but I’m just too tired/lazy at the moment ;_;
Homework ftl — Jan. loot
January 28, 2010Yeah, I’ve been busy lately. School is killing me with all this homework, and the year just started. The majority of my figures arrived, but I don’t even have time to do a proper loot post. I’ll just post a shitty, low-res image of this month’s loot (so far) to sum it up easier, since I’m too lazy to go into great detail about what arrived. If I had more time to exaggerate, I would , but it seems I don’t. If I don’t post now, then I’ll probably procrastinate even longer on my next post.
Click the image to have it take you to Tsuki-Board, where you can see more details on the picture (eg. figure types). And oh, the manga is Genshiken vol. 1-4, and I have the rest (vol. 5-9) on its way from Rightstuf, along with a couple of other things; I’ll surprise with another loot post soon. And hell yeah, that’s my Xbox Live Card, I’ve got online for a year now, for only $35!
And I sent my PS3 in. Let’s just hope they actually fix it this time around ^^;
Campus Bullshit
January 22, 2010One thing I hate about living at school: getting any type of packages sent here. It seems like I have to work to obtain any type of package I order, once it gets on campus; not like when I was home any they would bring the shit to my doorstep, and I’d never even have to leave the house.
So, this is the rundown:
Two of my larger packages were scheduled for arrival today: one containing my Figma Tohsaka, Figma Aegis, and several volumes of manga, and the other containing my 1/6th Saber, 1/5th nanako, and my 1/6th Shiki. The first one got here at about 8 a.m. (arrived at destination, which is the campus mail facility, where it’s supposed to head from my dorms from there), but the lazy fucks who work at this campus never brought the shit to the dorms, and since the mail facility closes at 11 a.m. on Fridays, and stays closed until Monday, I can’t get my package until then.
The other package is supposed to arrive here later today, but since no one is at the mail facility to get it, it’ll have to be re-delivered Monday. Meaning I have to wait until Monday to get $300 worth of mail that I was supposed to get today.
I know, I know, I’m an impatient bastard, but still, the shit makes me rage so hard. I ordered about 10~ or so packages last semester, and it felt like I had to jump through hoops for every single one. Whether it was a large one (like my MW2 Xbox 360), or something small like a game or DVD; I felt like I had to put up with this same bullshit every time.
Oh, and my 1/8th Tuskino arrived yesterday, and it had a big gaping-ass hole in the box it was shipped in! I have no idea if this was because of the carelessness of the USPS, or the carelessness of the staff at my campus (I’m assuming its good ol’ USPS), but the Tuskino’s box was undamaged, for the most part…
Her box had one little dent in the corner, which led to a slight rip in it, but the figure is 100% in perfect condition, and the box itself is still displayable, since it’s just a small dent in the back. I would probably be more upset if I paid full retail price for her, but I found her really, really cheap online ($20, plus $6 shipping). So I ended up getting her for close to 1/3rd~ of what she would cost retail, shipped.
All I have is shitty camera phone pics of her, but meh, I guess I’ll post them anyway:
Tsukino~ so moe
Here you can see the dent in her box >.<
And here you can see where it ripped a little >.>
But hey, for $20, I really can’t complain. Not to mention it got here in about two days.
I can’t wait until Monday when I get my packages, and I’ll probably have a couple more packages next week too (or the next), since I still have to get my Figma Saber and Figma Canaan from amiami, my 12 month Xbox Live card from amazon (found 12 months of game time for $35, free shipping; it’s a card with a code on it, since I’m reluctant to pay retail price for Xbox Live time), and another package with some manga and anime that I ordered from rightstuff.
Psychedelic ‘n’ Shit — a fail, fail circumstance
January 20, 2010My PS3 was giving me disc read errors (wouldn’t read PS3 BDs at all, however it would read PS2/PS1 games just fine). Luckily, the extended warranty on it was still active from three years ago (the original 80Gb with Backwards Compatibility) so I sent it in and got it back a few days later, supposedly fixed.
I put a game in and played it for a while (about ten minutes), and then it froze; it wouldn’t do anything. Turned the PS3 off and then back on but as it was booting up it froze again. After about 20 min of repeating the previous process (turning the PS3 on/of), I finally got it to work for another 10 min, but it once again froze on me.
When I booted up this time, however, these weird psychedelic tripping-balls colors and shit were on my PS3, which was completely froze:

Luckily enough for me, the company that ‘fixed’ it gave me a 90 day guarantee, so I can send it in as many times as I need to withing the next 85-ish or so days. I just hope next time it’s completely fixed.
I’ve heard of companies sending people money to reimburse them for fucked game systems, if it doesn’t get fixed after a few times sending it in, however in that case I’d have to buy a PS3 slim and lose all my Backwards Compatibility with PS2 games, and then I’d have to buy another PS2 on top of that, since I got rid of mine years ago.
Ahh, well here’s to hoping this shit gets fixed the second time around.
Figure Updates
January 18, 2010I finally got around to ordering the figures I was talking about in my last post. Order updates below:
Figma Aeigs
Figma Canaan
Figma Saber (Causal Clothes)
Figma Tohsaka Rin
1/6 Saber (Kyuujutsu Ver.) — So moe
1/8 Azusagawa Tsukino (Swimsuit Ver.)
1/5 Nanako (Limited Edition Black Ver.)
1/6 Ryog Shiki
I also pre-ordered Flandre Scarlet, and already had Black Rock Shooter (Alternate Sword Ver.) pre-ordered, as previously mentioned in my last post.
So, I’ve only been collecting figures for about a month now and I can already tell that 2010 is going to be a very, very expensive year. I’m curious to see where my collection will be by next year.
My first figures, along with my thoughts on purchases for this semester
January 12, 2010I Made a post about ordering these the day after Christmas. Got these a while back but never posted because I don’t exactly have a worthwhile camera at my disposal. I was planning on getting a Canon Rebel XS (1000D) to replace my current camera, which is old, a camera would have been a worthwhile investment, but…
Too much is happening, product-wise, this semester. Now that I’ve got my first figures all I want to spend my money on is more figures. Drugs would probably be cheaper than these hobbies of mine -.- That, and oh me, oh my, Final Fantasy XIII, Bioshock 2, God of War 3 are coming out this year, just to name a (very select) few. I’m also trying to re-obtain quite a few of my retro consoles, games and get some new headphones and a GPU on top of all this, and doing this in a semester is impossible, these are some long-term goals, but what about short term…
Oh yes, products produced in limited quantities, holy items. These are my short-term goals. A camera might be something I really want at the moment, however I’ll have as much time as I need to get one. Figures are generally produced in limited quantities, with limited runs, and that’s what I’m trying to focus on at the moment. So, let’s see what I have planned in purchases this semester:
Top left: Pre-ordered this one as soon as she was available. I missed the original BRS so I told my self that there was no way I could miss this one. Too bad we have to wait until April.
Top right: Will pre-order these soon for sure, and I really hope Bakemonogatari gets some full scale PVC figures and figmas in the future.
Bottom: I think I’ll probably pre-order this one too. It’s rather expensive for a 1/8th scale, but it’s just awesome. Too bad we have to wait until June >.<, but at least that gives me the time to round up the extra money for her.
Figures I’ll order when I get paid Friday, if they don’t sell out of stock (crosses fingers):
Nanako (X2, getting both the white and LE black version)
And I’m debating on World is mine Miku and Saber armor, Tohsaka, and Aiges figmas.
Oh, and class starts tomorrow
Moved back in the dorms Friday and had to pick up my books for class yesterday:
Also, this is a picture is comparing last semester’s books to this semester’s. The thin holed piece of paper near the bottom separates the two, with this semester being on top. Oh, and the A+ book will also be used this semester D:
I hope I do well this semester, and that I’m able to increase my collection greatly :p
And as an ending note, a picture of my first two figures in the box, since I won’t be getting a DSLR to take photoshoots anytime soon ;_;
Blog is moving – http://soronrey.wordpress.com/
January 12, 2010In short, I’m moving to wordpress
http://soronrey.wordpress.com/
Hopefully my blogging can grow from there.
WordPress, blogspot, blog choices, oh my!
January 12, 2010At first when I was deciding to make a blog, I originally made this wordpress account. I thought it was about time I made a blog and wordpress seemed to be a popular choice, however I was also aware that blogspot was another popular choice, so I wasn’t sure which to ultimately choose. I then made a blogsopt account, thinking I could try both and see which one I liked better, that and I’ve played around with blogspot blogs in the past (which I just made to house links to random uploads I uploaded for whatever reason, I’ve never had a serious blog) so I thought the more familiar layout would be easier to navigate, however…
After using blogspot for a while, I started to become more and more uncomfortable with its ‘ergonomics’, it felt like a chore to blog, something I really wanted to start diligently doing. It was giving me trouble with my image uploads, posting, layouts, ect and seemed to limit my blogging ‘experience’, if that makes any sense. I guess it doesn’t have to, using blogspot just didn’t feel right for some reason. Looking at a few blogs I follow, I noticed that many of them used wordpress blogs, so I decided to come back to this one thinking I’d give wordpress a shot. I gave blogspot over two months (closer to three), so now I’ll try wordpress.
So, lets see where it goes from here!
Merry (2 hour late) Christmas
December 26, 2009So yeah, I haven’t posted in a while; it’s not like anyone reads this shit anyways, but for all intents and purposes, I should attempt to make more (regular) updates. Anyways, just a few things:
Pre-orderd a re-stock for kemonomimi Nagi and Tsugumi Kannagi figures. Got an email the day before Christmas saying they were ready to ship, there are two of the Nagi and one of the Tsugumi left on AmiAmi if anyone missed out on these when they were released in April.
Stock pictures of them from AmiAmi (will take more myself when I receive them, and a new camera):
I also pre-ordered the alternate sword version of Black Rock Shooter since I (regretfully, to an intense degree) missed out on the original Black Rock Shooter:
And on a random note, while I’m posting, here’s a random pic of the (mostly games) stuff I picked up last semester while at my dorms. The dorms are extremely small, so I had to take it all home during Christmas brake; I’ll restart next semester. I can take the games I want to play (when I go back to school Jan 10th, after my Christmas break) in a CD binder or something similar, all the cases just take up too much room, room I don’t have at school
I already owned the PS1 games, however I’ll be taking them back home too because of the same ‘space issues’. Though I did purchase a few PS1/PS3 games from the PlayStation Network this semester, too:
Final Fantasy 7 (PS1)
Wild Arms 2 (PS1)
